TAKE A CLOSER LOOK
It began in 1985 with the GSX-R750 and now this latest GSX-R continues the high-performance legacy with a 1,000cc, four-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, inline engine that is built to perform, both on the track and the road. It delivers high-performance and even more too, its reliability and winning potential have earned this model its enviable reputation in world endurance racing.
The HY battEliiy P-series starter battery represents a major innovation in motorcycle starter battery technology, offering numerous advantages over conventional lead-acid batteries. Developed by Eliiy Power using cutting-edge energy storage technology, the new P-series is not only more compact and lightweight but is designed with a focus on exceptional reliability, impressive durability, enhanced startability, and an extended lifespan with minimal self-discharge requirements.
Compact, light and rigid, the twin-spar aluminium frame is built to deliver agile handling and great road holding ability. The bolt-on rear subframe is made of strong, light square aluminium tube sections. Braced on both sides, the strong aluminium swingarm contributes to mechanical traction and provides the strength to withstand the demands of track use and sporty road riding.
The compact, lightweight chassis provides quick response and agility. It is designed to increase the rider’s confidence in the key areas of RUN, TURN, STOP performance on the racetrack. While development and performance for the GSX-R are targeted at track use, they also perform on the road too.
Equipped with Showa BFF (Balance Free Front) forks and BFRC lite (Balance Free Rear Cushion) lite shock, developed for racing. Both improve cornering traction by delivering smoother, more controlled travel and better reaction to surface imperfections.
Each radial-mount Brembo monoblock front brake caliper has four opposed ø32mm pistons acting on a ø320mm floating-mount disc for strong stopping power. Each disc features a hybrid mounting system using a 50/50 combination of 5 spring-loaded floating pin mounts and 5 Brembo T-drive floating mounts. The T-drive mounts are lighter than spring-loaded floating pin. But T-drive can also produce an audible rattle under certain conditions. Spring-loaded pin mounts are slightly heavier and produce a smaller contact area, but are quieter. Using a combination of T-drive and pin mounts reduces rattle and requires fewer mounting points. A single hydraulic disc provides stopping power to the rear wheel.
The lightweight, six-spoke cast aluminium wheels contribute to positive handling and sporty performance. They are shod with the latest generation of Bridgestone BATTLAX RACING STREET RS11 radial tyres 120/70 at the front and 190/55 at the rear, delivering consistent performance and durability across a wide range of conditions.
Winglets on the front cowling direct airflow and generate downforce at high speeds to enhance stability. Made of “dry carbon” with a hollow structure and produced in Japan, the size and shape of the winglets was developed through a long process of experimental builds and thorough testing to achieve the optimum effect without making the handling feel heavy. Quality is far above “wet carbon” products, which are often made from cheap material with carbon attached. These winglets adopt the same basic design as those used by Team Suzuki CN Challenge when competing in the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race 2024.

SUZUKI INTELLIGENT RIDE SYSTEM (SIRS)
The GSX-R1000R employs an LCD instrument panel that features a clearly legible display. This panel not only supplies critical real-time operating status information, but also keeps the rider aware of the settings for the bike’s respective systems. S-DMS mode and Smart TLR Control level indicators as well as a fuel gauge and readouts showing instantaneous or average fuel consumption, and service reminders.
It began in 1985 with the first GSX-R750 and since then bikes of ever evolving shapes, sizes and capacities have worn the GSX-R emblem to signify their power, pace and performance. Now 40 years on this latest GSX-R pays special tribute to this incredible 40 year history. Striking graphics and special parts finishes commemorate the 40th anniversary of the GSX-R family.
In keeping with the 40th anniversary theme, the selection of body colours is inspired by famous winning Suzuki race schemes, and gives each one true standout appeal. The blue, white and red from the original GSX-R750 and on many GSX-R through the years. Red draws it’s inspiration from the Lucky Strike race bikes while the yellow harks back to the Corona liveried Superbikes.
The styling of the GSX-R is based on aerodynamic performance, determined in wind tunnel and racetrack testing, with feedback from experienced test riders and racers. Designers worked alongside the engineering team to express the beauty of high performance in a purpose-built super sportbike.
The high-illumination LED headlight features low-beam and high-beam elements that are stacked, with the low beam positioned above the high beam. The narrow and compact design contributes to both aerodynamic performance and the sharp lines of the GSX-R1000R’s face. Sharp looking LED position lights are located above the SRAD intakes on each side of the GSX-R1000R’s headlight. The LED front and rear indicators are mounted in thin bar-shaped housings that extend from the sides of the cowling. The LED combination rear/brake light features a vertical layout that contributes to the tail’s sharp, slim design.

* | Fuel economy was measured by Suzuki in the Worldwide Motorcycle Test Cycle (WMTC). Exhaust emissions measuring conditions measured by Suzuki. Actual fuel economy and riding range may differ owing to differences in conditions such as the weather, road, rider behaviour and maintenance. |
† | Torque conversions to imperial units (in brackets) are approximate and included as a guide only. |
¹ | ABS is not designed to shorten the braking distance. Please always ride at a safe speed for road and weather conditions, including while cornering. On the GSX-R1000R brake pressure is optimised while cornering. |
² | Traction control system is not a substitute for rider’s throttle control under the various conditions, and traction control cannot prevent loss of traction due to excessive speed when entering turns, or while braking, and it does not control front wheel traction. |
